Weak Camper Trailer U Bolts

G'day all,
Just wanted to share with you an issue I had a while ago with my camper trailer u bolts.
Now while I do love my Leisure Matters off road camper trailer and have gotten excellent value for money with it over the years, but at the end of the day, they (and plenty of others) are made in china and are fit for a purpose. Of which myself, and probably most of you out there as well; tend to push the limits of said design just a bit too far.
So I think that was a nice way of saying if you intend to go on corrugated roads with camper trailers that have leaf springs and u bolts beware as the u bolts can weaken from fatigue and fracture over a period of time and eventually BREAK!
Especially if you are going on a big trip off road somewhere in this great country of ours I highly recommend getting yourself a set of high tensile U Bolts and changing them out before you go and of course keep the original ones as spares (for your mates).
Here's a of photo of the original camper u bolt (in the middle) showing stress fracture and breakage at the bend, and the new high tensile 16mm (5/8") thick u bolt (on the left) sourced from Couplemate Trailer Parts which have been load tested in a static 200T press to destruction at 23 tonne! They come with a life time warranty and are Australian made. The u bolt on the right is a mild steel version made for general garden trailers from a local trailer parts shop.
Happy Camping Gaz
